Bavaria - Austria - 2015. The Route.

Two years ago I was on a long trip around Europe, visiting, among many other places, - Alps.

Since then I am hopelessly and forever in love with Alps, there can never be enough Alps for me, so this year we've decided to do yet another circle around Austria, this time also visiting famous Bavarian mountain resorts and central Austria. In addition,  during our last trip Melk Abbey caught our attention, but it was closed at the time, so this year we added it to the route.

Total route is approx 1500 km long, planned for 2.5 weeks. The planning has started in April and already then it was hard to find nice hotels with a decent price. Booking.com was our friend and at the end we've got everything booked nicely.

The start and end of the journey is Munich airport with main stops being:

  • Reutte, Austria
  • Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Bavaria
  • Chiemsee, Bavaria
  • Königsee, Bavaria
  • Klagenfurt, Austria
  • Graz, Austria
  • Myra Fälle, Austria
  • Melk Abbey, Austria
  • Salzburg Lake Land, Austria
  • Munich, Bavaria
Almost every stop is there for a reason, so the journey looks promising.

The weather is promised to be challenging though. The forecast is 30-smth Celsius in this area during first half of the  trip with thunderstorms and rains following in the second half (with temperature barely declining), so the journey promises to be interesting as well.
